YSTAND – a floor stand for forearm crutches
Forearm crutches are often leant against a bed, table or chair. Then they crash down on the floor, out of the user’s reach. A familiar and inconvenient situation for all crutch users? The YSTAND is the solution for problems with falling forearm crutches. The stand is steady, with the base and upper fork designed so that it is very easy to place the crutches on the stand and pick them up. The YSTAND can also be used in damp areas.
The stand can easily be carried around by holding it by the fork at the top. The YSTAND also promotes hygiene – the crutches stay clean and the room is also easier to clean!
The YSTAND promotes physical activity immediately following surgery or injury, reducing the need for help from nursing staff when you get up and about.
For treatment facilities, home and customer service points
YSTAND floor stands have become very popular: there are thousands of them in use in hospitals all over Finland. User experiences have been so positive that many people have purchased a stand for their home. The stands are also suitable for waiting rooms and customer service points. We have received a lot of great feedback on our stands!
- ‘Many crutch users feel embarrassed about having to keep asking staff for help with picking up their crutches and they may therefore remain inactive and immobile. The crutch stand ensures that patients can start walking independently soon after their surgery. The most important thing was to design a product that is extremely easy and handy to use.’

Hospital for Joint Replacement Coxa has been using YSTAND forearm crutch stands since the establishment of the hospital in 2002. Every time we open a new ward, we purchase more crutch stands. The crutches stay upright and do not fall over. Our customers can reach their crutches easily. This promotes their activity and independence and they need less assistance from the staff.
